LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Orchestra is set to play several world premieres this weekend.

it's all part of Creators Fest. Three new pieces were created by composers on the staff of the orchestra.Ā

One composer, Brittani Green, worked with elementary schoolers to develop a story about magical creatures for her piece.

The orchestra will also debut a concerto for horn, written specifically for one of the Louisville Orchestra's French horn players, by composer Baldwin Giang.

"We're the only orchestra in the world that has anything like this," Louisville Orchestra Music Director Teddy Abrams said. "You'd be shocked to think -- most orchestras don't hire composers on their staff. They have violins, oboes and horns, but no composers. Composers should be a part of the community. We don't just want one piece from a composer and then never see them again."

The concerts are happening Friday and Saturday at Whitney Hall in the Kentucky Center. Tickets can be purchased online.
