LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The classic car collection of a former southern Indiana sheriff found guilty of stealing millions from taxpayers sold at a premium over the weekend.

Jamey Noel, the former Clark County Sheriff, is currently serving a 12-year prison sentence after being convicted of 27 felonies.

As part of his sentencing, Noel was ordered to pay back $3.1 million in restitution to New Chapel EMS, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana State Police and the Indiana Department of Revenue.

Up until this past weekend, roughly $93,000 worth of Noel’s property has been sold at auction. In January, dozens of his firearms, custom-made suits, and Rolex watches were auctioned off by Freije & Freije in Stilesville, Indiana.

Last week, more than 40 vehicles once owned by Noel hit the auction block. Even though several of the cars didn’t start and had to be left in the parking lot, interest in the auction was high.

Bidders headed north to the French Lick Springs Hotel for the "Premier Spring Big Boy Toy Classic Car Auction" on Friday, May 2.

In total, 21 vehicles with “NOEL” decals still plastered across their windshields were up for sale. Bidders snapped up each one, with prices ranging from a few thousand to tens of thousands of dollars.

Saturday, the remaining 22 vehicles were auctioned off Saturday as part of the 2-day auction.

All proceeds from the auction — minus fees — will go toward paying off Noel’s court-ordered restitution.

In total, the auction collected $1.2 million.

Noel's remaining assets include several real estate holdings. Two properties near Utica, Indiana, are listed for $302,000 and $496,000.

However, liens on both properties mean the full sale price won’t go toward restitution. Noel’s home in Naples, Florida, is under contract for $588,000. He purchased it for $275,000 in 2020, though that property also carries a mortgage.

Noel was arrested in November 2023 on charges related to fraud, misconduct, theft, ghost employment and public corruption after a nearly year-long investigation. More charges were filed against him in early February, including theft and tax evasion. He was accused of using credit cards from the agencies to pay for a massive car collection, an airplane and bills for his kids, including rent and college tuition. There are millions of dollars in charges, all outlined in official court documents.
