LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- If you’ve ever wanted to own a vintage Cadillac hearse, now might be your chance.
It has a V-8 engine, automatic transmission and just 50,000 miles — but no functioning parking gear. The current bid is $1,200.
It’s just one of many unusual vehicles up for grabs in the ongoing auction of assets once owned by Jamey Noel — the disgraced former Clark County Sheriff and New Chapel EMS director who is currently in prison serving a 12-year sentence after being convicted of stealing millions from taxpayers through years of fraud and misconduct.
Also on the auction list is a 2001 Ford ambulance, currently fetching a $6,500 bid. There’s no record of where it was in service.
Noel built his expansive car collection using the $2.8 million he was convicted of stealing from New Chapel EMS and $61,000 from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. A court has ordered him to pay $3.1 million in restitution to New Chapel EMS, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana State Police and the Indiana Department of Revenue.
This Friday’s "Premier Spring Big Boy Toy Classic Car Auction" at French Lick Springs Hotel includes a wide variety of vehicles — from a Lincoln Town Car and a decommissioned police cruiser, both with bids as low as $5, to a selection of battered station wagons and aging Dodge sedans.
To date, roughly $93,000 worth of Noel’s property has been sold at auction. In January, dozens of his firearms, custom-made suits, and Rolex watches were auctioned off by Freije & Freije in Stilesville, Indiana.
Scott Gibson, a Floyds Knobs resident who attended that auction, walked away with a shotgun.
“My wife has been following this story from the beginning, and I kind of used it as an excuse to buy a new gun — and she gets memorabilia, so I’m happy,” Gibson said.
That auction lasted just two hours — and everything sold.
This weekend, some of Noel’s most valuable collector cars will likely find new homes. Among them:
A Dodge Super Bee — Current bid: $30,500
A 1970 Plymouth Road Runner — Current bid: $91,000
Another Plymouth Road Runner — Current bid: $57,000
A 1970 Plymouth Superbird — Current bid: $126,000
If the auction ended Wednesday, those four cars alone would bring in $666,725 toward Noel's restitution.

His remaining assets include several real estate holdings. Two properties near Utica, Indiana, are listed for $302,000 and $496,000.
However, liens on both properties mean the full sale price won’t go toward restitution. Noel’s home in Naples, Florida, is under contract for $588,000. He purchased it for $275,000 in 2020, though that property also carries a mortgage.
As bidders continue snapping up what’s left of Noel’s empire, prosecutors and victims alike hope the ongoing sales will help recover a portion of the stolen funds.
