LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Jamey Noel's classic car collection will be auctioned off soon in southern Indiana.

The "Premier Spring Big Boy Toy Classic Car Auction" will be held May 2-3 at the French Lick Resort. Freije and Freije auctioneers announced Monday morning that Jamey and Misty Noel's seized car collection will be part of the auction.

"Our goal is to create an exciting, first-class auction experience where buyers and sellers alike can connect with the collector car community while achieving fair market value for their vehicles," TJ Freije, president of Freije & Freije Auctioneers, said in a news release Monday. "With the collections already consigned, this auction is shaping up to be one of our best yet."

Profits from the cars will go toward Noel's $3.1 million restitution. The former Clark County sheriff, Noel was ordered to pay that back all that money back after he pleaded guilty to 27 felonies related to fraud and theft in October.

Noel was arrested in November 2023 on charges related to fraud, misconduct, theft, ghost employment and public corruption after a nearly year-long investigation. More charges were filed against him in early February, including theft and tax evasion. He was accused of using credit cards from the agencies to pay for a massive car collection, an airplane and bills for his kids, including rent and college tuition. There are millions of dollars in charges, all outlined in official court documents.

At his sentencing last October, Noel was sentenced to 12 years in prison and ordered to pay the restitution after pleading guilty. As part of the plea deal, Noel was ordered to pay four different public agencies:

  • $2,870,924 to Utica Township Volunteers Firefighters Association (dba New Chapel EMS)
  • $173,155.07 to the Indiana Department of Revenue
  • $61,190.77 to the Clark County Sheriff's Department
  • $35,245.60 to Indiana State Police

Thousands of bidders across the country are expected to attend the auction in May.
