LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) --Â A new outdoor learning center is planned for Shawnee Park, and Louisville residents are being asked to help design it.
Wednesday, Mayor Craig Greenberg announced the launch of a community survey designed to gather feedback on how people use Shawnee Park and what they would like to see included in the Shawnee Outdoor Learning Center.
"This is an opportunity for residents to help shape the Shawnee Outdoor Learning Center so we can build a space that reflects the vision and creativity of the Shawnee community,"Â Greenberg said.
City officials said the planned facility will serve as a regional hub for outdoor education, recreation and community events. The project is part of the West Louisville Outdoor Recreation Initiative, an effort by Louisville Parks and Recreation to expand equitable access to outdoor spaces and nature-based programming.
The center will also support the expansion of Louisville Engaging Children Outdoors, or ECHO, which connects children and families with hands-on outdoor activities.
The survey will remain open through April 3.
