LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Tiny Halloween costumes filled the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Norton Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Louisville.

Nurses at the hospital volunteered on their day off to dress NICU babies in costumes, giving families a moment of joy during the spooky season.

The annual tradition is organized by NICU nurses who make the costumes and take photos for families with babies who can't go home yet.

Norton Healthcare said families appreciate the gesture because it brings a sense of normalcy during a difficult hospital stay.

This year’s costumes ranged from a lion to Woody from "Toy Story," all sized for premature infants.

Norton’s social media team shared the photos online for families and the community.
