LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – Hundreds of people climbed for a cause Sunday at Lynn Family Stadium.

It was the 11th annual Fight for Air Climb for the American Lung Association.

There were several categories including those who climbed for 111 minutes or those who climbed at least 1,228 steps.

Some even started at 6:30 a.m. The Louisville Fire Department has participated every year and so far has raised more than $80,000.

"Every step and every dollar is going to raise funds and awareness for lung health," Deena Adams, executive director of the American Lung Association, said. "Especially important in Kentucky where we are known for having high rates of lung cancer."

Some even did it in costume. Nearly 700,000 people in Kentucky suffer from lung disease.
