LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Some Louisville residents can get free tax help starting Friday.
Mayor Craig Greenberg's Office said the Louisville Asset Building Coalition's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program offers trained, IRS-certified volunteers to help prepare your taxes.
Individuals and families earning less than $67,000 in 2024 are eligible to utilize the VITA program.
The mayor's office provided the following list of 15 different VITA cites set up across the city for in-person tax filing help:
- Americana Community Center, 4801 Southside Drive
- Bates Memorial Baptist Church, 728 E. Lampton St.
- Edison Center, 701 W. Ormsby Ave., Ste 201
- Family Scholar House U of L, 403 Reg Smith Circle
- Family Scholar House Riverport, 3311 Cathe Dykstra Way
- Goodwill East Broadway Opportunity Center, 909 E. Broadway
- Goodwill South Louisville Opportunity Center, 6201 Preston Highway
- Louisville Urban League, 1535 W. Broadway
- Oldham County LaGrange Library, 308 Yager Ave. (La Grange)
- Portland Promise Center, 1831 Baird St.
- Shively City Hall, 3920 Dixie Highway
- Vincent de Paul Family Success Center, 1029 S. Preston Highway
- Sun Valley Community Center, 6505 Bethany Lane
- United Crescent Hill Ministries, 150 State St.
- Wesley House Community Services, 5114 Preston Highway
Additionally, these four mobile locations will be available:
- John Center, 700 E. Muhammad Ali Blvd. (open Jan. 31, April 4, and April 11 – 1-3p.m.)
- Facilities Management Services, 1500 Lytle St. (open Feb. 10, Feb. 24, and March 10 – 9 a.m. to noon)
- Goodwill West Louisville Opportunity Center - 2820 W. Broadway (open every Friday Feb. 7 through March 7, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
- Family Scholar House, 1309 Catalpa St. (open March 15, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.)

The mayor's office said since VITA's inception in 2001, it has helped more than 154,000 residents file their taxes. More than 8,800 returns were processed by VITA volunteers in 2024. That added more than $10 million to the city's economy, "including $3 million in Earned Income Tax Credit to residents," according to a news release.
