LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Three people died this week in Louisville on Preston Highway in two different incidents.
Monday evening a man was hit and killed while trying to cross Preston Highway near Minor Lane. 10 minutes down the road on Friday night, a motorcyclist and a driver were killed in a fatal crash.
"Growing up here it was really quiet, and all of this was just a big field, you could walk pretty much anywhere safely, and it was not a problem," Shannon Miller, who grew up around Preston Highway, said.
Louisville Police said Monday two men were trying to cross a dark section of the road and made it to the center median, which is a turning lane.
That's when police said one of the men stepped back into the roadway and was hit by a car and died.
This isn't the first pedestrian hit on Preston Highway this year.
"I think crosswalks and better lighting would probably be helpful," Miller said.
Friday night, a car pulled onto Preston Highway from Maple Spring Drive, causing a motorcyclist driving northbound to collide with the vehicle.
The motorcyclist was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. The person driving the car that was hit died later at the hospital.
There was a third car involved in the crash, that driver is expected to fully recover. No charges are expected in the fatal crash or the pedestrian being hit.
