LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- As the holiday season approaches, a heartfelt tradition continues to grow, spreading joy and hope to hundreds of students in the Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) district.
Southeast Christian Church, in partnership with JCPS, is aiming to make this a Merry Christmas for more than 600 students this year.
What started as a humble effort to support a single student in one school has blossomed into a district-wide initiative, now touching the lives of children at 36 schools.
However, despite the generous support from the community, there are still over 100 students in need of sponsorship. These are children who might not otherwise have presents to unwrap or the warmth of a special holiday moment.
There are students across the district who could use a little extra holiday cheer. Sponsors are still needed from some students at schools including Atherton High School, Cochran Elementary, JCTMS and Kammerer Middle School.
Southeast Christian Church is committed to ensuring that every child has the chance to experience the joy of the season. Thanks to this partnership, all items are delivered directly to the schools, making the process as easy as possible for families and sponsors alike.
It’s a beautiful reminder of the power of community and kindness, as neighbors come together to support those in need.
