LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The COVID-19 crisis is forcing some government offices and drivers license branches in Kentucky and Indiana to temporarily close or update the way they do business. Here are updates from counties that have contacted the WDRB Newsroom at news@wdrb.com.
Kentucky - all Driver's License offices closed:
Governor Andy Beshear’s order to cancel in-person government services, driver’s licensing offices statewide closed on March 17, 2020. Citizens who are due to renew a motor vehicle license, including commercial driver’s licenses, will have an additional three months to obtain the renewal.
Bullitt County Clerk's Office closed (Ky.):
Bullitt County Clerk Kevin Mooney closed the clerk's office on March 17, 2020 until further notice. Staff will be working on mail and online transactions. They will also keep preparing for the Kentucky primary election, which has been moved from May 19 to June 23, 2020. The public has two options for renewing vehicle registrations. The first is to mail them to Bullitt County Clerk, P.O. Box 6, Shepherdsville, Ky. 40165. Include the prior year's registration receipt, proof of insurance and payment. Registration for most vehicles can also be done on Kentucky's www.driveky.gov site.
Vehicle transfers, Notary oath, bonding and passport applications in Bullitt County will be suspended until further notice. Marriage license applications are by appointment only. Call 502-543-2513.
Clark County, Indiana offices closed:
The Clark County Commissioners closed all Clark County government offices to the public and all walk-in and face-to-face business on March 17, 2020 until further notice. This includes the offices of the Assessor, Auditor, Treasurer, Recorder, Clerk, Planning & Zoning, Surveyor, Veterans Services, Weights & Measures, Commissioners and Clark County 4-H/Purdue Extension. Meetings of the Clark County board, council and commission are also cancelled and will be rescheduled in the future. The Clark County Courts are working on a limited emergency operation.
Floyd County City-County Building closed (In.):
The New Albany-Floyd County Building is closed to the public until further notice. The Board of Commissioners said in a release that they are protecting the citizens, employees and their families. With approval of department heads, employees may work from home, but government services will continue. Any further questions regarding government operations can be directed to the Floyd County Commissioners at 812.948.5466 or to the individual departments.
The following facilities are closed to the general public:

• ML Reisz Building
• Floyd County Health Department office
• County Highway Garage
• SISC and Pine View Gym
Anyone who has scheduled a child immunization, requires a birth or death certificate, or has a food/environment for the Floyd County Health Department should call 1.812.948.4726.
Hardin County government offices closed (Ky.):
Hardin County Judge Executive Harry L. Berry closed all county facilities on Tuesday, March 17, 2020. "All employees will continue to report for duty to conduct business for our citizens and we will accept appointment requests for time-sensitive business." He encouraged the public to visit the HCKY.org website. If you don't have internet or can't find what you need, call the judge executive's office at 270-765-2350.
Fiscal Court is still planned on March 24, 2020 at 3:30 p.m. The session will be closed to the public, but anyone can watch on Youtube or Facebook. A recorded version will be posted on the county's website on March 25.
Jefferson County Clerk's Office (Ky.):
The Jefferson County Clerk is recommending people try to avoid crowds and social contact by using online, telephone and mail-in options instead of visiting the office. Motor vehicle tag renewals can be done by calling 502.569.3300, or by mail at P.O. Box 33033, Louisville, KY 40232-3033. Vehicle transfers, duplicate titles and disabled placards, however, must be done in person.
Real estate records can be accessed online by clicking on legal records from 1984 to present. To find records prior to 1984, you'll need to visit the Deed Room at Metro Hall downtown.
If you need to register to vote or update your voter registration, you may do so online at the clerk's website or the Kentucky Secretary of State's website. Questions can be directed to the Jefferson County Election Center office at 502-574-6100. Links to all services can be found at the Jefferson County Clerk's office website.
Oldham County Government offices closed:
All Oldham County Government Offices closed on March 17, 2020, with limited exceptions.
•All buildings and sites providing county government services, shall be closed to the public and to the extent possible, all in-person county government services shall be provided by the following methods: mail, fax, email, videoconferencing, any internet-based methods, telephone or by appointment only under emergency needs;
•Employees are prohibited from providing nonessential in-person county government services outside of government buildings or sites;
•Vacations for all essential personnel (Police, Sheriff’s Deputies, Dispatch Personnel, Animal Control Officers, Road Department Employees) are cancelled. Exceptions will be considered by the Judge-Executive or Acting EMA Director.
•In the limited circumstances where government in-person services are still provided, all county government employees should engage in social distancing as defined by the CDC.[1]
