LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear channeled Mr. Rogers to share a Halloween safety message.

Before a Team Kentucky news conference Thursday, the governor entered the room with theme music and said, "Oh, hey, neighbors. I didn't see you there. Welcome to my neighborhood."

He proceeded to the stage where he changed out of his suit jacket and into a red sweater, as he talked about the positive things happening in Kentucky.

Beshear sat down and changed from his dress shoes to sneakers and reminded people to be safe for the holiday.

"There's an important night coming up called Halloween. That's when we dress up and pretend to be spooky things, but remember to be kind to each other during it," Beshear said. "And make sure whether you are one of those big kids or small ones that you are safe on Halloween night in your neighborhood."

The skit ended with a title "Mr. Beshear's Neighborhood" coming on to the screen behind him. The governor made his way to the podium to start the news conference, "Everyone, I'm Andy, welcome to my neighborhood and this week's Team Kentucky update."
