LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- People have a chance to win $1 million by playing Kentucky Derby Festival's hole-in-one golf contest this month.
Kentucky Derby Festival hosts the Stock Yard Bank $1 Million Dollar Hole-In-One Contest from April 17 through April 27 at Seneca Golf Course. There will be 10 days of preliminary qualifying rounds, a semi-final round and a final round.
According to a news release, the preliminary competition starts April 17 and ends April 27. It's closed April 20. The range is open from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., but on the final day of the preliminary competition, the range is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The semi-final round will be April 27 at 6 p.m. and the finals will be April 29 at 6 p.m.
During the preliminary rounds, the 10 closest shots to the hole each day advance to the semi-final round. But a hole-in-one shot advances directly to the final.
It costs $1 per swing daily with two swings for $1 on the following days:
- Senior Days (62+) on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- College Day on April 18
- Junior Day on April 19
- First Responders and Veterans Day on April 21
- Ladies Day on April 22
Kentucky Derby Festival said there are a total of 56 positions in the finals, which include all daily hole-in-one qualifiers, four female qualifiers from Ladies Day, along with two qualifiers under the age of 18 from Junior Day advance.
If no hole-in-one is awarded during the grand prize round, the participant coming the closest to the hole during the finals will receive a $5,000 first prize.
