LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man was shot while being carjacked Saturday night in southwest Jefferson County, but police arrested the suspect, according to Louisville Metro Police.
According to LMPD spokesperson John Bradley, police responded to a report of a person shot in the 7200 block of National Turnpike, near Outer Loop, around 9:45 p.m. Police said a man suffered a graze wound and said he was carjacked at gunpoint.
The victim was shot while his car was stolen, according to police.
Police spotted the stolen vehicle, a dark Chevy Trailblazer, a short time later. That led to a short vehicle pursuit, according to police.
Bradley said the vehicle was stopped in the 3200 block of Taylor Boulevard. Montrell Thompson, 31, was taken into custody around 10:05 p.m.
According to an arrest citation, Thompson is a known convicted felon and has multiple prior convictions. He's also prohibited from possessing a handgun.
Thompson has been initially charged with robbery, receiving stolen property and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
LMPD's Robbery Unit is investigating the incident.
