Sunday's joint announcement from Red Mile and Keeneland comes after the Kentucky Supreme Court declined to revisit its September ruling that the gaming machines, which look and act like slot machines, do not fall under the state's definition of parimutuel wagering.Â
Kentucky lawmakers said the state’s thoroughbred industry will be crippled if the General Assembly does not legalize historical racing, and one prominent state senator said “calamity” would result if the legislature does not act.
Slots-style historical racing machines allow people to bet on randomly generated, past horse races.Â
