In the paper, Humana's chief medical officer estimates the U.S. wastes up to $935 billion annually, but he calls for incremental fixes instead of a wholesale overhaul: "We do not need to start over."Â
Louisville-based health insurer Humana Inc. plans to cut 2% of its workforce, about 800 people, by the end of the year, the company said in a statement on Monday to WDRB News.
Humana is saving so much money from the slowdown in medical care that it will likely have to pay rebates to the federal government as part of the Medicare Advantage program.
