LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Leaders at the Bullitt County Detention Center said an inmate mistakenly released last week is now back in custody.

Mike Goldsmith, chief deputy of the Bullitt County Detention Center, said law enforcement were looking for Dustin Harris.

Goldsmith said a sergeant released him Tuesday. Harris' charges were similar in district and circuit court, Goldsmith said, and after district court ordered Harris' release, the sergeant didn't realize he was still supposed to be in jail on the circuit court charges.

Goldsmith said jail officials realized the mistake Friday morning.

Harris is charged with terroristic threatening, harassing communications and menacing. His bond was set at $10,000 cash. According to court records, his alleged victim told police Harris called her all night and threatened to kill her. She told police he put his hand on his knife and said the knife was for her, making her fear for her life.

Goldsmith said the jail has been transparent about this case and notified the victim and the county attorney of Harris' mistaken release.

Just after 4 p.m. Monday, Bullitt County Jailer Brian Whittaker said Harris was back in custody.Ā

Goldsmith said Harris was found at his home in Brandenburg. He was taken into custody by Bullitt County jailers "without incident."
