Friday's 8 p.m. lighting ceremony will happen after a parade and several hours of activities.
Organizers are looking for a way to celebrate the season that doesn't bring crowds to downtown Louisville.
The display will include a rainbow of colors, and holiday-themed gobo lights celebrating Kwanza and Hanukkah.
