LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A teenager died in a multi-vehicle crash in Meade County on Monday, according to Kentucky State Police.

KSP said troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of US 31W and Old Mill Road in Muldraugh around 11:15 p.m.

Police said 18-year-old Kristian Cottrell, of Guston, was driving a Ford Focus southbound on US 31W when he ran a red light at Old Mill Road intersection. Cottrell crashed into a van sitting stationary at the intersection.

That van was driven by 52-year-old Denise Thompson, of Brandenburg.

Cottrell was pronounced dead at the scene. Thompson was flown to University of Louisville Hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to KSP.
