While about 90% of our area won't even see a drop of rain today, one county has been clipped by a Severe Thunderstorm Watch to our Northeast.Â
Yes, Carroll county is the only county included. This is in effect until 8PM this evening. To be clear, most data has storms completely East of our area, including Carroll county. Still, the NWS in Wilmington, OH and the SPC have decided to include Carroll county.

Primary threats include...
Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely
Isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible
SUMMARY...Thunderstorms over southeast Ohio are expected to persist
through the afternoon and spread across the watch area. Locally
damaging winds are possible with the strongest storms.
The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 45
statute miles north and south of a line from 60 miles west northwest
of Huntington WV to 10 miles south of Elkins WV. For a complete

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.
