LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — One person is dead after a car was hit by a train in Memphis, Indiana, on Monday.
According to a Facebook post by Tri-Township Fire & Rescue, crews were dispatched around 3 p.m. to the area of Village Lane and North U.S. Route 31 in Memphis, near Interstate 65, on a reported crash involving a car and a train.
According to the post, crews arrived within five minutes and found a person "unconscious and unresponsive on the ground." The person received care and was transported to UofL Hospital.
Assistant Chief Col. Mark Grube with Clark County Sheriff's Office said the person died, but didn't specify any other details pending notification to the victim's family.
The Clark County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash.
