LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- One person died in a house fire in the Newburg neighborhood on Friday night, according to Okolona Fire Department.

Okolona Fire Department Maj. Frankie Nalley said crews responded to a house fire in the 6100 block of Corinth Way near Poplar Level Road, at 10:27 p.m. When crews arrived on scene, fire was coming out of the home's front windows.

Nalley said fire crews had to break down the front door to get inside the home. Once inside, firefighters found a male victim. He was taken to a hospital in Louisville by EMS where he was pronounced dead.

The identity of the victim hasn't been released.

Nalley said firefighters didn't hear smoke detectors going off inside the home while putting out the fire.

A cause of the fire hasn't been determined yet, and Louisville Arson investigators are working to determine the cause.
