LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A global bakery cafe chain will open its first Kentucky store in east Louisville.

Paris Baguette will take over a former bank on Brownsboro Road, near Lime Kiln Lane, on May 20, according to our partners at Louisville Business First.

The chain specializes in French-inspired breads, pastries, cakes and sandwiches.

The new bakery will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, offering some unique menu items like halal chicken, to cater to the city's Muslim community.

"The vision of this business is to create an absolute hub of positivity where worlds can come together," Ayesha Arif, who is opening the cafe with two partners, told LBF. "Paris Baguette's tagline is 'Your neighborhood bakery cafe.' We are actually flipping it. We're calling it a 'neighborhood in the bakery.' So, the moment you open the door, you feel so welcome, and we have kids of all colors running around and having fun and people trying to get to know each other."

Other menu items include blueberry chiffon cakes, cherry Greek yogurt danish and Lavazza coffee.

The franchise owners said they plan to open another location in the area, but have not said where.
