LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Scott County, Indiana, boy is back in the arms of his parents after wandering off and being found by an Indiana Department of Natural Resources officer.

Tuesday, a 10-year-old boy with Down syndrome in Austin, Indiana, about 36 miles north of Louisville, wandered off in the woods in Scott County.

The boy's family told WDRB News he was with his full-time nurse at the time, while the rest of the family was at the dentist.

A number of agencies banded together to look for him. That's when the DNR said officer Claire Mitchell found footprints, followed them and found the boy. Michell is one of the DNR's newest officers.

The boy was not injured.
