LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Authorities have identified the man who died when a southern Indiana duplex went up in flames Thursday morning.

According to Clark County Deputy Coroner Misty Raney, 76-year-old Michael Gieseler, of Clarksville, died in the fire. 

The fire was reported a little before 6:30 a.m. Thursday in the 700 block of W. Harrison Avenue. That's in a neighborhood near the intersection of S. Clark Boulevard and Stansifer Avenue. 

When fire crews arrived, they found the duplex fully engulfed in flames. One person was able to escape, but Gieseler was not, and died at the scene.

Crews had the fire under control within 10 minutes of arriving. Firefighters remained at the scene spraying hot spots with water throughout the morning.

The cause of the fire is unknown, and Clarksville Fire said that it is still under investigation.
