LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A military hero who served in the Korean War only wanted two things for his birthday.
He'll see them come true Saturday on Veterans Day.
U.S. Navy veteran Alfred Triplett recently turned 92. Granting his first wish was easy but the second required a little help from top city officials.
For his recent birthday, Triplett didn't ask for much.
"Wanted fried chicken for dinner and for someone to take me to the parade, Veterans Day parade, just wanted to go down and be with the veterans," he said.
"And there's not a whole lot of things that you can get for your father for the 92nd birthday," his daughter Patricia Dermody said.
His daughter just wanted to see him happy.
"And every year I always say dad and he's like don't buy me a shirt, don't buy me house shoes, don't buy me this. All I want is fried chicken," Dermody said.
But his family didn't stop there.
"He goes, 'I would really love to be in the parade,'" Dermody said. "And I was just like, 'oh, I don't know, Dad, I can try to find a group and maybe I can push you in a wheelchair.'"
Dermody reached out to the person in charge of the parade.
"And within an hour he emailed me back said 'Hey, call me' and I did and he said, 'I got your dad in the parade. He's going to be riding in a vehicle,'" Dermody said.

It has been nearly 70 years since Triplett came home from the Korean War but he still proudly flies the American flag outside his home, and wears his favorite hat everywhere he goes.
"I love my country, and I served my country when they called," Triplett said.
He remembers some of his service, with laughter, like the time he went to firefighter school.
"Naturally I wasn't standing in a stance that I needed to be, standing in on that kicked it on the fire hose took me all round up and down and mowed down all the guys who were standing there in the class," he said.
It wasn't his proudest moment but his pride will shine through this Veterans Day, when he is among the heroes honored for serving their country.
"This is a surprise to me," Triplett said. "And I can't believe all this is happening."
