LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The toughest athletes in the country took to the streets and river Sunday for the IRONMAN 70.3 Louisville Triathlon.
This is the first time in five years the competition has returned to the Derby City. It began with a 1.2 mile downriver swim in the Ohio, then to Waterfront Park for a 56-mile bike ride into Oldham County.
Then a 13.1 mile half marathon run through Louisville and finishing at 4th Street LIVE. People came from all over the country to take part in the half triathlon.
"It was an awesome course, great support, great spectators, a lot of fun," Jacob Capin said. "Smooth road, beautiful countryside. Can't ask for anything better than that."
WDRB reporter Dalton Godbey also participated.
