LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A bike and pedestrian path along South Beckley Station Road, connecting to the Parklands of Floyds Fork, is now complete.

City leaders said crews faced several challenges creating the shared path to keep people safe.

Those challenges included evacuating solid rock along the hillside, protecting vital infrastructure, getting permits to work underneath Interstate 64 and relocating a neighboring subdivision's irrigation system.

Louisville Metro Public Works and Metro Council's 11th District partnered for the project providing safer and more accessible pathways for the community.

Metro Councilman Kevin Kramer, R-11, is inviting the community to a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the shared-use path at 10 a.m. May 27.
