LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- There was an outpouring of support for breast cancer awareness at Louisville Slugger Field on Sunday
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Susan G. Komen and WDRB News hosted the More Than Pink Walk in downtown Louisville. The event brought together cancer survivors, supporters and advocates to raise funds for Komen's mission and to support those diagnosed with breast cancer.
Survivors walked holding signs of how long they have been in remission or cancer free.
"To have such a beautiful event and all your friends and family can come out and celebrate with you," said Jill McKinney, a breast cancer survivor. "It is beautiful thing and I will always do it now. Research is important, donating is important and more advances in medicine is extremely important for an event like this and for women like me."
In 2024, more than 4,300 women in Kentucky will be diagnosed with breast cancer.
