LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville church hosted a New Year's celebration that introduced the local community to a different culture.

The sanctuary of the Crescent Hill Baptist Church came alive with music and dancing as Burmese refugees celebrated the New Year with a taste of southeast Asian culture. Many of the refugees were Karen -- a persecuted ethnic minority group that makes up just 7 percent of Burma's population.

Celebrations began at 9:30 Wednesday morning.
