LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Dozens of amateur chefs cooked up their best dishes on Saturday.

The 15th annual Big Green EggFEST Food Festival was held at Brownsboro Hardware & Paint on Friday and Saturday. The competition uses a ceramic charcoal barbecue cooker called the "The Big Green Egg" sold at the hardware store.

Saturday also featured "Best Beef" and "Best Pork" competitions.

"As a local business, it's important to give back and it's a great opportunity to have a great time, and have some great food," said Doug Carroll, owner of Brownsboro Hardware & Paint.

On Friday, three local chefs participated in a competition. There was also a silent auction.

Proceeds from the two-day event are split between Kentucky Harvest and A Recipe to End Hunger. Over the past 15 years, nearly $400,000 has been raised for food-related charities.

Carroll said about 2,000 people attend the two-day festival.
