LOUSIVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Retirement didn’t stop Julius and Sondra Wilkerson.
The couple transformed a 5,000-square-foot former auto shop in Clarksville, Indiana, into a cigar lounge, according to our partners at Louisville Business First.
"I’ve always wanted a place to treat a few people excellently," Julius Wilkerson said.
Bay Cigar Lounge opened Oct. 3 and features leather seating, a full bar, and bay doors that open on warm days, giving the space a breezy, open feel.
Visitors can buy cigars on-site for $7 to $30 or bring their own.
Day passes cost $50, and annual memberships range from $2,000 to $3,000. VIP members have access to the "Royal Room," a private lounge for quiet conversation or reflection.
The Wilkersons, who previously ran Louisville’s Big City Styles barbershop and salon, also maintain a small barbershop inside the lounge.
The business employs 13 people, including the couple. A grand-opening celebration is set for Oct. 29 and will feature live music.
