LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Millions of people quit their jobs or retired early during the pandemic, but as inflation hammers their budgets, many are going back to work.
Are you one of those people?
2022 was the year of "the great resignation," now 2024 has become "the great return to work."
Walking into many grocery or hardware stores, you may see the older generation back to work.
One 74-year-old man has been the "helpful hardware man" since retiring from a computer job almost 10 years ago.
After a couple years at home, he decided retirement wasn't for him.
So, like a growing number of people over the age of 65, he returned to the workforce.
Are you interested? Kiplinger Magazine has a list of top jobs for retirees.
They include:
- Hardware and craft store associates
- Tutor
- Nanny
- Museum or tour guide
- Book keeper
- Driver for senior centers or hospitals
Most people say they do it just to get out of the house.
Whether for the money or just to stay active, millions of retirees are now working again.
