LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- If you're the type of person who likes to travel, you know the importance of having an emergency kit in your car.

Recently though, there have been scam warnings about emails saying you qualify for a free emergency kit.

The email asks you to take a survey in order to receive the free kit, and once you take the survey it asks for your credit card information to cover postage.

It claims to be from AAA Customer Service, but that is not true.

The email also may congratulate you for "winning" a car emergency kit or having an expiring offer for one.

If you receive an email or text, regardless if you are a AAA member or not, you are advised to not open or click any links and delete the message immediately.
