LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- As the weather starts to warm up, many of us plan to start some home projects.
But, is your project legal?
With the cost of contractors going up and the timelines lengthening, more homeowners are doing it themselves. The risks of that can be costly.
A new report from Go Banking Rates lists the project that may be illegal unless you are a professional. They include:
- Upgrading your electrical panel
- Upgrading your stove from electric to gas
- Taking out a wall to open up your kitchen
- Installing a water heater
- Building a deck
Many of these projects require a permit. Going around the law could result in fines, injuries, or even an order to take it down.
The safest thing to do is check with contractors or department stores before starting your project.
