LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new year, and a new round of price hikes when it comes to streaming TV.
Remember when streaming TV packages were half the price of cable? Not anymore, especially with YouTube TV's January price hike to $83 a month.
Add in your Internet bill, Netflix, and a few other services - you're paying $150 a month again!
YouTube TV blames the rising costs of programming for the price hike.
So what can you do? If you log on to cancel, YouTube may extend your old rate. It's worth trying!
Also, consider switching to slightly cheaper Hulu Live Plus or Sling TV, and downgrading services to cheaper versions.
Amazon is the next service to start charging more money if you don't want to watch ads. For another $2.99 a month on top of the $15 most members pay, you can avoid commercials.
This is becoming the new norm with streaming TV: Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+ are among services that now a charge a bit more if you want to avoid ads.
The days of $7 a month ad-free streaming are just about gone.
