LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Many people take cruises because they are so affordable compared to a week at a beach resort. And if you're on a tight budget, you might want to grab the cheapest flight to that cruise.
Have you ever considered travel insurance? When you're scrimped and saved to make that final payment for your summer vacation, you may cringe at the thought of shelling out more money for travel insurance. But it may be well worth the extra $100 to $200 if you run into unexpected disruptions.
There are two types of insurance and both are worth considering.
Travel insurance covers lost baggage, medial treatment, and emergency medical evacuation. Trip cancellation insurance reimburses you if you cancel due to weather, illness, or job loss.
The big lesson is to pay for travel insurance with any big trip and never try to fly on the same day as your cruise departure.
