LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Comfy Cow is closing one of its Louisville locations.

In a release, the Louisville-based company said it was closing the shop in the Clifton neighborhood at 2221 Frankfort Avenue.

"We have been looking for a relocation opportunity to downsize for some time. It’s a great building, but 5,000 square feet is more than we need for just a retail scoop shop," said owner, Chip Hamm in the release.

The ice cream company restored a dilapidated Queen Anne house and constructed a commissary kitchen and retail space on the former Genny’s Diner site in 2013.

"Obviously, we love the neighborhood. We have been part of the revitalization of Clifton and are actively looking for a relocation site, something smaller for just retail," Hamm explained.

In January 2021, the company said it planned to move its headquarters and production from the Frankfort Avenue location to help centralize online deliveries and logistics for the Louisville area stores.

The Comfy Cow was founded in 2009. It now has four retail locations in Louisville.
