LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A popular restaurant and bar in Douglass Loop is closing and will become Derby City Pizza.

Dundee Tavern in the Belknap neighborhood just off Bardstown Road is changing its business model due to high overhead and rising food costs.

"The current business model was not working. These financial decisions are critical for survival," Dundee Tavern posted on Facebook. "This was not a decision taken lightly and your current staff will still be working. We will still be family oriented atmosphere with your local owners but we had to simplify this business."

The restaurant at 2224 Dundee Road will become the 10th Derby City Pizza in the Louisville area. Dundee Tavern will change its name, products and services to fit the local pizza chain.

"Dundee Tavern has long served the community of The Highlands but we feel this change will be an overall positive impact to the neighborhood," Dundee Tavern posted. "Derby City Pizza’s 'Family Spoken Here' commitment will greet and serve you every time you come in."

Dundee Tavern's final day of operation will be May 4.
