Diamond Shruumz recall 7-1-24

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has recalled some mushroom-infused products after people who ingested them ended up sick or in the hospital.

Diamond Shruumz chocolate bars, cones, and gummies branded as "microdosing" sweets are being pulled from shelves.

The FDA said 39 illnesses have been reported in 20 states from consuming the products, including Indiana and Kentucky, with 23 hospitalizations. The Indiana Department of Health said three cases were reported in the Hoosier state.

Patients have reported a variety of symptoms, such as seizures, passing out, confusion, sleepiness, agitation, abnormal heart rates, changes in blood pressure, nausea and vomiting.

Diamond Shruumz products are sold in CBD and hemp stores, gas stations and online. No deaths have been reported.

The FDA is telling consumers to not eat, sell or serve any flavor of Diamond Shruumz-brand chocolate bars, cones or gummies.

If you have one of the products, the recommendation is to discard them or return them to the company for a refund.

Because some of the products are chocolate or gummies, the FDA said they "may appeal to children and teenagers" and recommends parents or caregivers talk to their children and "take extra care to avoid these products being consumed by younger people."

The FDA is still investigating. To read more about the recall, click here.
