LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Demolition has started at the site of the former Hooters on Dixie Highway in Louisville.

The demolition will allow for Neil Huffman Auto Group to expand its dealership, according to our partners Louisville Business First. The former restaurant was located at 4948 Dixie Highway.

Neil Huffman Auto Group purchased the property at the intersection of Upper Hunters Trace for $2.5 million last year. Demolition is expected to cost $127,000.

"We are excited about the opportunity to expand our Mazda Volkswagen dealership and better serve our customers in Louisville," Shane Huffman, managing partner of Neil Huffman Auto Group, said in a news release at the time. "This acquisition aligns with our long-term growth plans and demonstrates our commitment to providing a world-class experience for our customers."

Neil Huffman has locations in Louisville, Frankfort and Clarksville.

Hooters closed its Dixie Highway location last summer
