LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Heaven Hill Brands is celebrating a major milestone for one of its most recognized figures in the whiskey world.
Bernie Lubbers, Heaven Hill's national whiskey ambassador, became the brand's whiskey ambassador emeritus on May 1, the company said in a news release Thursday.
As whiskey ambassador emeritus, Lubbers will support the company's ongoing advocacy and whiskey education efforts while sharing his deep knowledge and passion of whiskey.
Lubbers, known throughout the industry as "The Whiskey Professor," has been with Bardstown-based Heaven Hill for almost 20 years, helping bring the award-winning brand to life.
“I’ve always believed that whiskey is more than a drink—it’s a story, a tradition, a bond between people," Lubbers said in the release. "I’m proud of what we’ve built together, and I look forward to continuing to share that spirit in new ways as whiskey ambassador emeritus.”
Lubbers is known for leading the resurgence of Bottled-in-Bond whiskey, introducing a new generation of consumers to the industry.
The former stand-up comedian turned whiskey expert has been named Global Whiskey Ambassador of the Year by "Whisky Magazine" three times, in 2009, 2012 and 2016.
