LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The city of Jeffersonville broke ground on a new neighborhood Wednesday morning.
Springdale Meadow is located at 61 Louise Street, off East 10th Street. The plan is to build 10 new homes by this fall, with prices starting at $260,000.
The development will have three-bedroom, two-bath homes featuring a two-car garage, granite countertops and a covered back patio, according to a news release. Cedar Grove Builders are leading the development.
"Springdale Meadow will be a wonderful addition to our city, providing much-needed housing options for our growing community," Mayor Mike Moore said in a news release on Tuesday. "This development will not only offer beautiful homes, but will also strengthen our local economy and enhance the quality of life for our residents. We are excited to welcome new families to Jeffersonville and look forward to seeing this community thrive."
City leaders said the neighborhood is part of an effort to provide more high-quality, but affordable, housing options for families.
"I think what makes this project special for me is, I've had so many developers say the last few years 'You can't build a new house, 3-bedrooms, 2-bath for under $300,000,'" Moore said at Wednesday's groundbreaking. "Nate Hock, the developer of this site, said 'Yes, you can.'"
