LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Jammin in Jeff's Juneteenth Celebration took over RiverStage to honor Black women who have left a mark on the music industry.
The music of Billie Holiday, Nina Simone and Aretha Franklin filled the air on a warm night. The event included dance performances, live DJs, food trucks and drinks.
People arrived early with blankets and lawn chairs for a night of fun and music. Grammy nominated Arist Chicka the 90s pop group En Vogue both performed.
"I am really glad to be part of this," said Simone "DJ Samosa" Gabrielle. "This is not something I had growing up so for the future generations I am so happy they have this celebration."
The next Jammin in Jeff will take place Fright night with a tribute to the Beach Boys.
