LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Middletown is now home to a new blood center.
Kentucky Blood Center said Tuesday that its new location at 14002 Shelbyville Road in the Beckley Station shopping center is now open. The center will start accepting blood donors on Wednesday, Oct. 30.
“We are really excited to open our new Middletown location,” Bill Reed, KBC’s president and CEO, said in a news release. “This new location will provide better access to our donor base. When all things are equal and people are busy, convenience and access can be the difference in a donor deciding to make a lifesaving donation.”
This new location replaces the old one that was located at 12905 Shelbyville Road, which closed on Oct. 26.
The new 4,200-square-foot location provides more room for registration, screening and donating.
The new Middletown location will be open Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can also visit the Hillview location at 5406 Antle Drive.
KBC supplies blood for 70 hospitals in Kentuckiana, including the entire Baptist Health system.
To donate blood, you must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health and show a photo ID. To schedule an appointment to donate, click here. Walk-ins are accepted.
