LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A major expansion effort at the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport is underway that will include a major upgrade to its TSA checkpoint aimed at easing security lines.
The $45 million upgrade of the airport’s security checkpoint will add about 30,000 square feet to the facility and include 10 screening lanes equipped with updated TSA technology — designed to move passengers through more efficiently.
The checkpoint project is part of the airport’s SDF Next Program, a multiyear initiative that includes more than $1 billion in upgrades across the facility.
Upgrades are also in progress along Concourse B, where another $45 million investment will bring new gate hold rooms, updated seating and other improvements for travelers.
The project is aiming to complete construction by December 2027. It will not impact schedules or departures.
