LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Thousands of future distillers have learned the craft of making spirits at Louisville’s Moonshine University. Now, the school is preparing to close.
According to our partners at Louisville Business First, Flavorman announced Tuesday that it will close Moonshine University on Dec. 31, ending one of the bourbon industry’s best-known education programs.
Since 2013, the Louisville-based school has trained more than 15,000 students from all 50 states, 49 countries and four U.S. territories, and helped launch about 300 distilleries.
Current students will be able to complete their courses, and enrollment will remain open through the end of the year.
Flavorman said the decision followed a review of its long-term business strategy. The company plans to focus on beverage development and consulting services and is working with industry groups to preserve course materials.
LBF also reported Flavorman is exploring a similar future for its Stave & Thief Society bourbon education program. In-person classes will end later this year, but online courses and bourbon steward certifications will continue through the end of 2026.
