NWS confirms EF2 tornado with 115 mph winds in southeast Grayson County

GRAYSON COUNTY, Ky. (WDRB) — The National Weather Service confirmed Wednesday that an EF2 tornado hit southeast Grayson County when severe weather rolled through several counties Tuesday afternoon.

The NWS is conducting surveys in several Kentucky counties after Tuesday's storms, including Hart, Hardin and Metcalfe counties.

Multiple people were injured and at least 20 structures were damaged in the reported Grayson County tornado.

According to Grayson County Emergency Management, one person was hospitalized with "serious injuries" and multiple others were treated for minor injuries.

Severe storms hit several Kentucky counties Tuesday afternoon. An "extremely dangerous" tornado in Hart County near Munfordville was radar-confirmed by the National Weather Service, and several other Kentucky counties were under tornado warnings.

The NWS also said Wednesday their preliminary report showed a tornado with EF1 winds reaching 95 mph hit Hardin County near Fort Knox on Tuesday.
