LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The National Weather Service said Wednesday that a tornado caused damage near Fort Knox in Hardin County when severe storms tore across several Kentucky counties Tuesday afternoon.
The preliminary report shows EF1 tornado damage was found, with maximum wind speeds of 95 mph.
The NWS has found EF-1 damage near Fort Knox, KY in Hardin County. Max wind speeds were 95 mph.
Severe storms hit several Kentucky counties Tuesday afternoon. An "extremely dangerous" tornado in Hart County near Munfordville was radar-confirmed by the NWS, and several other Kentucky counties were under tornado warnings.
The NWS described the Hart County tornado as a life-threatening situation. Viewer video showed a possible tornado in the area of Horse Cave, Kentucky. It was seen crossing Interstate 65.
Multiple people were injured and at least 20 structures were damaged after a reported tornado tore through Grayson County.
According to Grayson County Emergency Management, one person was hospitalized with "serious injuries" and multiple others were treated for minor injuries.
The full scope of the damage across the state is unknown at this time. The NWS said it will be conducting weather surveys Wednesday morning.
