LOUISVILLE, Ky (WDRB) -- Schimpff's Confectionery added a new decoration outside their doors in Jeffersonville.
Herm Rowland Sr., owner of the Jelly Belly Candy Co., gifted a bench with Mr. Jelly Belly to the 132-year-old confectionery. The bench is the only one in Indiana and only a handful in the country.
"This will be a sweet addition not only to Schimpff's, but to Spring Street as well," Warren Schimpff, co-owner of Schimpff's Confectionery, said in a news release. "We're thrilled to share this gift with Jeffersonville, and we hope customers and passersby enjoy it for years to come."
The bench features a giant Mr. Jelly Belly, with plenty of room to sit next to him to take a break from shopping the streets of downtown Jeffersonville or a photo-op.
The Schimpff's also announced the business will stay in the family after they retire. According to a news release, the fourth generation owners chose Steve Shepherd, a cousin of the family, to continue on the business.
